Excellent

This would have to be one of the best flash games I've played in a while. Everything that's in this game is done brilliantly

The gameplay is absolutely brilliant. The plant-growing mechanic is original and innovative. Controls are smooth and responsive, and the game runs brilliantly.
Level design is great, and it was good that there was a curve of difficulty in each level set. Some of the levels proved quite a challenge, and that's always welcome in a puzzle game.

I like how you split the levels up, depending on their skill-set. That was cool, because it didn't lock me into anything, and I had a bit of freedom to do the levels I wanted to do.

Jordan's art was fantastic. He did an amazing job on all the particle effects and animations. The levels were truly beautiful, so bravo Jordan!

Sound and music were amazing; the music that played in the jungle levels was my favourite peice. It was kinda catchy, and because of that, I'd find myself planting to the rhythm of the music, without even knowing I was doing that. Sound effects are nice, especially the jump effect.

One thing this game doesn't do well, however, is plot. The 'Collect x number of x' thing is pretty lame and unimaginative, and really shouldn't have a place in a game as awesome as this.

I know you're not doing puzzle games anymore, but can you please do a level pack for this?
Maybe just reskin the popular community maps so they're set on the robots planet or something. That would be cool.

But despite the shortcomings of the plot, the game is as still close to perfect as any game has been for a long time! Congratulations!

AethosGames responds:

You know what they say about plot in games. Joking aside, the plot wasn't really the focus, but perhaps more attention should have been paid to it. Thanks for playing!

Not very entertaining

Music is real loud and aggravating, gameplay is basic but with no glitches, graphics are OK.

I didn't feel like playing it for more than 3 minutes. This doesn't mean other people won't though.
Also, why is the boss vector but everything else pixel?
P.S: How come you guys have five team members?

thinking-man responds:

To answer your questions:
1 there's a mute button (press m)
2 because the boss was made by a different guy.
3 only 4 guys worked on it, I just included Nonplusultra to make him feel better.

Pretty Surreal

Because the book is so strange, it makes the game hard to grasp.
The book tells a story, it gives all the information to you. This game however, makes you live the story, which causes it to be incredibly hard to follow, especially considering how non-linear the book is.
I think your choice in adapting slaughter-house five was a mistake because it makes the game very hard if you want to actually do something, instead of just walk around aimlessly.

6/10 for having guts, not too many bugs and nice artistry.

idiot-monarch responds:

You're right. The idea was too ambitious for the short time-frame we had to make it in. There were a bunch of concepts that would make the game easier to understand that didn't make it into the game.

A lot like our game

But slightly prettier.
The trouble is it isn't very hard. I just sat there holding the z key down spamming magic. I think I got hit by projectiles about 3 times, and the boss battle took me 20 seconds.

Overall, the art was great, but the gameplay left a little bit to be desired.

Skeik responds:

I find that people either do really good or really bad depending on how often the fairies drop. Most of the time it's pretty easy though.

Interesting Premise

Nice, fun to play. It's pretty short and easy, and their isn't a lot of replayability, but who cares. Gameplay is interesting.
Also, there's a glitch with the play again button that means you can't play the game more than once without refreshing.
Graphics were nice, the art style kinda reminded me of a full colour Hansel and Gretel game.
The music was just a little recreation of twinkle twinkle little star, so no point added subtracted for that.

For 72 hours this is damn nice! Well done!

SantoNinoDeCebu responds:

Yeah I tested it a bit more and discovered the glitch, so I should get it fixed shortly!
Cheers for bringing it up!

And for ther record the art was done in just over a day, so kudos the art dude!

All this, in 72 hours?

You got an amazing amount of work done it just 72 hours. Did you guys not sleep for the last three days?

A few critiques though:
A lot of the messages from the NPC's would hover infront of my backpack.
Also, the scroll out animation for some of the NPC's talking didn't have a stop(); function, so it looped endlessly.
The Backpack system wasn't very user friendly. Instead of actually figuring stuff out I sorta just walked around randomly until something happened.
Also, why do some lines have their own voice overs but others don't?

The story was nice and interesting though, but the names of the two civilizations were a little bit dumb.

I definitely see a top three placing for this game in the competition.

MonoFlauta responds:

Thanks for reviewing :) there were some small bugs :S but that was the problem of testing, as you see is a big game and we couldnt test everything sorry for that :S

Nice :P

It's good to have a little comic take on the flash game creating process. Would definitely like to see more of this kind of thing done. It was great! I laughed a lot and it made me realise a few things about what I was doing with my own flash game. Nice work, keep it up!

thinking-man responds:

Always glad to help.

Good for an AS beginner

Just a few notes though:
1.When attacked in mid air, you stop falling

2. Don't use keys like ctrl, as when used in certain combinations, they can do stuff to certain programs and computers.

3. I find that your hitboxes are a little bit too low compared to your actual art.

4.Don't bag yourself out like that. The visuals are great. And the coding is fine.
If you fix the few things that I have suggested, I would give you a ten.

This game is actually quite good.
I could imagine it getting featured (possibly this demo could as well.)

Xiphon responds:

We'll see if it does, honestly if i was going for ratings, i woulda released it around 7 PM, but I just wanted to get it out.

The controll scheme thing to me has always worked, I think it's because Tomb Raider was the first computer game I ever really played, and it had a nearly identical control scheme, and I just got used to it.
It's one of those things I don't know unless I release demos like this, so I'm glad info is coming back.

This is pretty good.

Great flash, and it must have been push push poush since the controversy to get it out on time, but I like it.
BTW: What has 26 legs and can't climb a ladder?

TomFiveThumbs responds:

Cheers Wallross!

Could Be Longer...

If this was longer, this would be great. Maybe change the water physics so that it takes longer too sink,

Mtypenguim responds:

I tried that, it just didn't seem to work. Thanks for the critique.

I'm just a kid that likes to program fun games...
